Snow Chains / Winter Tires
Snowchains for your rentalcar are available for € 25,00 per rentalperiod.
Upon request we deliver a car from our categories DA, M, NA, O, R, T or W with winter tires (and corresponding snow chains). The one-time fee is € 140,00 for all rental periods up to 14 days. After 14 days the costs are an additional € 3,00 a day. It is advised to reserve your winter tires timely.
According to Dutch vehicle regulations all cars with a Dutch license plate have to have tires that comply with the 92/93/EEG directive. Dutch regulations make no distinction between summer and winter tires. In some other European countries, additional requirements exist:
Germany
Since May 2006, cars driving in wintry conditions have to be equipped with winter tires and enough screen washer liquid. This also applies to Dutch cars. The fine for driving with inappropriate tires is € 20,00. In case of danger or obstruction the fine is € 40,00. In addition to a fine, driving with inappropriate tires can lead to liability.
Switzerland, Austria, France and Italy
No general laws apply, but it is recommended. In case of an accident, the use of inappropriate tires can play an important role in establishing liability and can lead to prosecution.
On mountain roads winter tires and tire chains can be mandatory. This is indicated with a road sign.
